William Reed, MD obtained his medical degree and post graduate training at Tulane University, Stanford University and University of California, San Diego. He went into full time practice of emergency medicine in 1976 and obtained his boards in Emergency Medicine in 1981. He practiced Emergency Medicine for twenty years in San Diego before retiring in 1995.
In 1993 Dr. Reed became interested in hair transplantation with the thinning of his own hair. He has had two transplantations himself and finds this very helpful in relating to what his patients are experiencing both in their researching hair transplantation as well as in following through on their decision to have a procedure performed.
Dr. Reed is a member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) as well as the American Society of Hair Restoration Surgery. He is active in researching leading edge technologies in hair transplantation. He has received funding for research from the ISHRS to study minigraft survival. He has made presentations on this subject as well as on cell culture of the hair follicle to the Annual Meetings of the ISHRS and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. He has been published multiple times in the Hair Transplant Forum International. He has served on the ISHRSÕs Scientific and Education Committee.
Dr. Reed is the solo physician at La Jolla Hair Restoration Medical Center where he takes pride in doing only one transplant procedure a day to allow the complete focus of well-rested professionals on each case performed.
