Bernard H. Cohen, MD
For over 25 years, Dr. Cohen has dedicated his practice to hair loss diagnosis and hair transplantation. He is certified by the American Board of Dermatology and the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (see below). He is an active member of the teaching faculty at the University of Miami Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery, holds the title of Voluntary Professor and was former Clinical Professor and Director of Surgical Training.
Dr Cohen was awarded "Surgeon of the Year" distinction by The Florida Society of Dermatologic Surgeons, and was chosen "Surgeon of the Month" by the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery. He’s received multiple awards for his dedicated service to the University of Miami's dermatology training program. He was awarded First Prize in the ISHRS poster competition 2002. Dr. Cohen has multiple publications (see below) and has lectured to more than 25 different medical and surgical societies throughout the world.
As an inventor, he has several patents and copyrights related to hair technology. The Suture Tension Adjustment Reel S.T.A.R. -- a device for stretching tissue to minimize the tension on donor site closure. The Hair Loss Profile and Index -- a computerized classification system that characterizes the distribution and severity of pattern hair loss. The Hair Quantimeter – an electronic, hand-held device for measuring hair loss and hair growth treatment response (on a scale of 1 to 100). The device is able to detect the earliest reductions in hair diameter… 10 to 15 years before balding is actually visible.

The Suture Tension Adjustment Reel (S.T.A.R.) -- A new device for the management of wound closure.
The Boro's Triange Scalp Reduction -- An surgical method that reduces post operative scar widening.
The Hair Loss Profile, Index, and Severity Scale -- A computerized scoring system by which hair loss can be characterized.
The Hair Quantimeter -- An electronic device that measures hair loss and growth by detecting fluctuations in hair density and diameter. The technology is intended for use by the practicing physician -- outside a research laboratory.
