Sheldon S. Kabaker, MD, FISHRS
Dr. Kabaker has practiced Facial Plastic Surgery and Hair Restoration Surgery in Oakland, California since 1971. He holds a position of Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Francisco. He has been one of the founding members of the Board of Governors of the ISHRS and serves as President 1998-1999. He was awarded the Manfred Lucas Award by the ISHRS, the F. Mark Rafaty Award by the AAFPRS, the Physian's Recognitian Award by the AMA. . He served 3 years in the United Sttes Army Medical Corps, one of which was in the Viet Nam War where he was awarded 5 medals.
The practice consists of most forms of hair restoration surgery with the microscopic follicular unit graft technique, using strip donor harvesting, being the most frequently performed procedure. He does not perform FUE. Dr. Kabaker has experience in flaps and tissue expansion of the scalp. These techniques are applied to difficult reconstructive scalp cases . In addition, he performs hairline advancement techniques for women with high hairlines.
Dr. Kabaker has written numerous textbook chapters and journal articles on hair restoration subjects.
Dr. Kabaker performs surgery in an accredited office surgery suite that can provide any level of anesthesia desired by the patient and the physician. For those who are the appropriate candidates, he performs male face lifts with simultaneous hair transplant .
